Building a Maule on How It’s Made | Movie Monday

0 Comments 14 November 2011

Today’s movie is from a more mainstream source, so I ask that you ignore the over-simplification of the process.

The video offers a little tour of the production process at the Maule factory down in Moultrie, GA. Maule’s are tube and fabric, so you Cub flyers and Kitfox builders take note of the fabric covering. I was very interested in this aspect of the video, because, while I’m interested in building a plane and I like a lot of tube and fabric planes, the idea of having to recover an aircraft seemed terrifying. I still think it is a terrific amount of work, but it seems more manageable now. I was also pretty interested in how simple the structure behind such rugged airplanes is.

Anyway, that’s it for today. Enjoy and fly safe!

About Me

Hello, my name is Matt Everett and as of 1/1/2010 I am a private pilot ASEL. I started this blog early in my training and used it primarily as a place to keep notes of my lessons. Since then it has grown to much more than that, but my main focus is still on aviation experiences.
