For some reason I have this love affair with bush flying. Aerobatics are nice, and I certainly look forward to trying them out, but I find no more perfect an example of aviation than a Super Cub alone in the wilds. There’s just something about it that really gets me going. As a natural extension to that, who wouldn’t be interested in a fly in that attracts some of the best bush pilots. Especially given the short landing contest where some classes have records that are just a few plane lengths. That’s flying on a completely different level than I can hope to reach at this point. I can only hope that one day I get out of an airplane and say, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, it took a whopping 200 feet to get stopped.”
I’m sure you’re screaming for video and I do not wish to disappoint, so there is a 3 part video from the 2010 Valdez Fly-in from youtube user jwill1066.
If that’s got you all worked up to see Alaska and experience some bush flying, I recommend you check out Blue Ice Aviation. At the very least you can see some more great videos and pictures of bush flying in Alaska.

Hello, my name is Matt Everett and as of 1/1/2010 I am a private pilot ASEL. I started this blog early in my training and used it primarily as a place to keep notes of my lessons. Since then it has grown to much more than that, but my main focus is still on aviation experiences. It is my sincerest hope that this blog is a resource for others as much as it is a resource for me.

If I had a quarter for each time I came here! Incredible article!
