New Year, New Content

No Comments 18 January 2012

It's that time of year, where I take a look back and decide what worked and what didn't and I usually set some goals. This year isn't going to be any different, but I've decided some changes are in order. On the whole, 2011 was an off-year. I basically accomplished 0% of every goal I... Read more »

AirVenture 2011 Days 2 and 3

No Comments 28 July 2011

I missed posting an update yesterday, because I spent quite a while at AirPigz's Camp Bacon meeting a bunch of people from Twitter and eating bacon. I had a really great time and I put some faces with names. If you'd like to see some absolutely stunning images, you should check out the latest post... Read more »

It’s almost that time…

No Comments 14 July 2011

Well, we're nearing the week before Oshkosh. Since I missed two posts this week, I'm going to include them in this update. Forgive me if it seem like a couple of unrelated stories. Anyway, with less than two weeks until the show, the Airventure Info Guide is avaiable. The guide lists all the hours, shows,... Read more »

A Couple of Interesting Things | Flying Friday

1 Comment 17 June 2011

If you're looking for a destination for your weekend flight, I recommend you check out the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The facility is part of the Smithshonian's National Air and Space Museum (probably the best part for plane geeks) and will play host to the annual 'Become a Pilot' day tomorrow, June 18th. Unlike the main museum,... Read more »

New Year’s Resolutions

3 Comments 01 January 2011

Last month I got my copy of Sport Aviation, EAA's fantastic magazine, and I was inspired to write a blog entry relating to one of the articles. The article is a list of 50 potential flying resolutions for the new year. The article suggests things ranging from things like obtaining a seaplane rating or instrument... Read more »

Sailplane action over the alps

No Comments 02 September 2010

I was wading through my email today and this video was posted to one of the LinkedIn groups that I joined. I have to say that it is a pretty nice video. It's got some great sailplane action over the alps. I think the best part is the break when the tow plane releases the... Read more »

Videos: Oshkosh Dreamin and a Jet Sale

1 Comment 05 August 2010

I came across two videos today that I thought I should post here.  The first one is hilarious. Imagine if Lockheed really had a 'Jet Month Sale.' Unfortunately, everything in the ad is way outside my price range... The second video pretty much sums up Oshkosh.  I recommend watching it in HD. Oshkosh Dreamin' from... Read more »

Reflections on my First Airventure

No Comments 03 August 2010

This past weekend was quite a ride. My dad and I drove 13 hours to Oshkosh, WI for Airventure 2010. It was quite an experience. We arrived just after sunset, which made finding a suitable campsite difficult to say the least. The rain earlier in the week caused quite a bit of trouble with parking... Read more »

Some Exciting Things From Oshkosh

2 Comments 28 July 2010

As expected, some of the early announcements have already filtered out of Oshkosh.  There have been some pretty exciting things coming out so far.  There are a handful of them that I've come across that are personally very exciting.  The Sonex Onex, the Cobalt 50, and the TV series The Aviators. At its most basic,... Read more »

Now I'm Getting Excited

No Comments 27 July 2010

It's Tuesday, day 2 of Airventure 2010 in Oshkosh. We depart tomorrow and now I'm getting excited. I'm getting so excited I just watched the same 3 videos about 5 times. I will post them here just in case someone else is interested.  The first one is a trailer for some of the more exciting... Read more »

About the author

Hello, my name is Matt Everett and as of 1/1/2010 I am a private pilot ASEL. I started this blog early in my training and used it primarily as a place to keep notes of my lessons. Since then it has grown to much more than that, but my main focus is still on aviation experiences. It is my sincerest hope that this blog is a resource for others as much as it is a resource for me.
