About

Hello, my name is Matt Everett and as of 1/1/2010 I am a private pilot ASEL.   It is my sincere hope that this blog is a resource for others as much as it is a resource for me.  My primary focus will be on my aviation experiences, but I will also include reviews of products I find useful or links to other interesting blogs or podcasts. The only guarantee that I can offer is that everything will be related to aviation.

A brief disclaimer: While I intend to be as accurate as possible regarding events that have taken place, sometimes I might not remember something correctly or I might take artistic license in portraying some events. Typically, I remember things a little more dramatically than they actually happened, so forgive me if that carries over into the content.

Where I am headed

It is often said that the only license a pilot gets is a license to learn and I take that to heart. I believe it is important to set goals, so as to best direct one’s efforts.  To that end, my current goals for this blog and my training include:

  1. Tail wheel, high performance, and complex endorsements
  2. Instrument, commercial, and CFI ratings.
  3. Buy a plane and fly it to Oshkosh, Sun-n-Fun, or both.
  4. Start flying aerobatics for fun, not accidental aerobatics.

All of my goals are just intermediate steps. My long-term goal is to make all of my income from flight instructing and aviation writing. I plan to chronicle all this and more right here.  Also, in the near future I want to buy a plane to fly, but I know that at some point in the future I also want to build one. I am absolutely smitten with the Vans RVs, but I’m really into some of the more affordable kits like the Sonex and the Zenith STOL kits. To make a long story short, when it comes to aviation, I haven’t found anything that doesn’t interest me. I even like helicopters.
