So how was it? Do you think you could manage? I’m pretty sure I could probably limp a 172 around the course, but I wouldn’t win any trophies. Of course running the race is only a quarter of the battle. These planes are running on the very edge of their performance envelopes and some are so modified they aren’t the same plane they used to be. When you modify something for performance, you usually sacrifice longevity, so flying the planes is a 500 mph balancing act. Push it just a little to hard and…
