We arrived about 8pm last night. There was still enough light that we were able to find a camp site. Unfortunately, between Saturday and our arrival all spots close to the field apparently filled. The end result is that we are camped out next to the highway–6th and Elm to be exact.
Anyway, I think I got most of my equipment kinks worked out. I’ve lightly processed a handful of photos, but most of the video is a disaster. I didn’t realize that I was working with a Class 4 card, so I overwhelmed my card and the video is jerky. I won’t shoot 60FPS any more and I shouldn’t have any problems. So, without dragging this out any further, hit the jump for the photos.
- Nasa’s S3B N601NA waiting to be towed into ConocoPhillips Plaza.
- The pilot of N601NA waiting for a tow.
- This year’s car for the Young Eagles Auction is a Blue Angels inspired Mustang.
- The winner will also get this autographed helmet for use while the vehilce is in motion.
- A P3 Orion awaiting its addition to ConocoPhillips Plaza.
- P3 Orion waiting to be towed to the plaza.
- Maybe next year this will be me sitting under my own wing.
- One of these things is not like the other.
- Hint: In the last element there is an RV in the slot position.
- As usual the Aeroshell team brought their A-game.
- The Aeroshell guys really set the bar high. It’s really too bad that the video is unusable.
- Aeroshell 4 at the bottom of a formation loop.
- I was glad to see Matt Younkin’s Beech 18 routine again.
- It’s really strange how elegantly his show is considering the hulking size of the plane.
- Skip Stewart doing the craziest opening move I’ve seen yet. He likes the low stuff.
- Bob Carlton’s Jet sailplane in one of the quietest routines.
- The Aerostars performing their interesting Yak 52 formation routine.
- Teresa Stokes preflights her equipment.
- Apparently her preflight was good, she hung on for the entire ride.
- Jet silhouetted in front of Jack Roush’s arrival at EAA Airventure 2011 (This is a joke and not my picture. In fact it’s from a long time ago.)
- I brought a tripod, so why not. This is the sign at our camp.
